DUKE MARINE LAB NETS $1000 FOR NEUSE RIVER FOUNDATION!

The 7th Annual Neuse River Triathlon is made up of an 800 meter swim, a 6 mile bike and a 2.5 mile run. Participants are encouraged to also compete for the craziest costume, best theme song and most spirited racer titles. The Triathlon is organized and sponsored by the Senior Class of the Duke Marine Lab, proceeds benefit the Neuse River Foundation.

The NRF triathlon was started at Duke’s Marine Lab by a group of proactive students in an
effort to raise both funds and awareness of coastal environmental issues. The lab, set on Piver’s Island near historic Beaufort, has been a part of Duke’s educational mission for a half a century and currently enjoys a national as well as international reputation. As a leader in marine and environmental sciences, policy and education, the lab was the obvious home for the Duke Chapter of the coastal society: am organization dedicated to coastal education and
outreach.
